Entertainment for Country Club Events

The Member Guest Tournament is the biggest event of the year for Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, North Carolina.  The club house sits high on a hill beside a breathtaking Donald Ross golf course.  After a beautiful day of golf with friends and family, the members and their guests were treated to a delicious gourmet meal and an open bar in the historic country club house that has now been expanded to host larger club events and weddings.

The event planner for the Member Guest Tournament needed entertainment that would please a broad range of ages and musical tastes.  The club members would be having guests at all ages, from 21 to 65 and older.  She needed music that would be fun, upbeat, and entertaining for a group that would be elated after their rounds on the club course.

We have been providing entertainment for country clubs for over a decade.  An event like the Member Guest Tournament at Hope Valley is right up our alley.  We understand that a lot of planning and preparation goes into an important weekend like this one.  So often our corporate clients (like country clubs) have spent months getting everything in place.  There is little room for error and the impression that they are looking to make is of the highest standard. Not all entertainers approach their job with the same concern and attention to detail.  Promptness, responsiveness, professional appearance, flexibility, and courtesy are all qualities that are as important to us as they are to our corporate clients.  The Member Guest Tournament and Awards Ceremony were going to be great.

We generally arrive to begin settin up at least an hour and a half before the first guests are scheduled to arrive.  For the Member Guest event at Hope Valley, we were parked at the country club at 5:15pm.  First guests were scheduled at 7pm.  We were setup and in place by 6pm and had completed our sound check at about 6:20pm.  We like to have a bit of down time before we perform in order to stretch, get dressed, change into a dress shirt and jacket, and drink heaps of water, which is good for the vocal cords.

We had background music rolling through our DJ system at 6:40pm and the guests began arriving at 7pm as expected.  As they made themselves at home, we had a brief discussion with our client about the music (what the guests might like, and to please let us know if we need to come up in volume – we are always aware of keeping the music at a comfortable volume).  We also offered to serve as DJs later in the evening if the night called for it.  Most of our Country Club events are all about the live music, but we are certainly considerate of those who would like to dance to TOP 40, Big Band, Seventies, Eighties, or popular group dances played through our DJ system.

Partway into the evening, we opened up our microphone to the Tournament Manager who distributed the Awards to the winning member guest golf teams.  The crowd was having a great time cutting up and cheering each other on.  We played all kinds of music from Bluegrass, Blues, Early Rock and Roll, Country, Beach, Motown, Soul, and classic dance music.  The dance floor was hopping and at the end of our live set, the club manager asked us to stay on and DeeJay for a while longer.  Of course, that is always an option for our clients and no trouble at all.  Everyone’s hands were in the air and they were singing out loud.  By the end, no one wanted to go home, and we were sad to say we had to hit the road when the time came for us to stop.
